Accounts Payable Supervisor

Summary

Assists the Accounts Payable Manager  with the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Accounts Payable processes and staff.  Supervises and coordinates activities of direct reports engaged in calculating, posting, processing and verifying invoices to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records.

 

Essential Functions:

•             Oversee the Accounts Payable staff to ensure the timely and accurate processing of the Company’s payables

•             In conjunction with the Manager of Accounts Payable, enhance reporting capabilities to give senior management insight into the Company’s payables          

•                             Enhance and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of direct reports and expedite workflow without compromising accuracy and all applicable federal and state laws

•             Responsible for training, coaching and mentoring of direct employees and/or temporary employees

•             Review and examine work for accuracy, timeliness, and conformance to policies and procedures

•             Monitor workload of direct reports and make adjustments as needed

•             Ensure the Accounts Payable staff is cross-trained on critical processes

•             Process invoices (manual and electronic) according to approval authority and AP Best Practices

•             Address and resolve errors and complaints from internal or external vendors.

•             Assist in internal and external audit requests

•             Oversee processing and completion of 1099 tax information for IRS Reporting

•             Oversee processing and completion of Escheatment process, in conjunction with the Tax Department  

•             Complete reports, special projects and assist the Manager of Accounts Payable when needed

•             Perform other tasks as assigned

•             Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, its policies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards 

•             Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures including but not limited to all applicable laws

•             Education/Learning Experience

             Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar subject

•             Work Experience

             Required: 3-5 years experience in accounts payable, including minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience

             Required: PC proficiency, including MS office

             Desired: SAP experience, invoice automation experience
